Welcome to the Albany-Tula Alliance

We are a group of citizen volunteers who encourage civic leaders, residents, and business owners in the Capital Region of New York and in Tula, Russia, to come together for our mutual benefit. Since 1991, we’ve been finding ways to exchange our knowledge, our skills, and our culture through visits, performances, lectures, internships, conferences, and more.

Tula and Albany share many similarities:

  • Both are the center of government for their region.
  • Both are industrial, technology, and educational centers.
  • Both are located within three hours of one of their country’s major international cities.
  • Both are growing, with most recent population counts putting Albany’s residential population at about 250,000 and Tula’s at almost 500,000.
  • Both are home to important universities, cultural and artistic organizations, and historic sites.

We invite you to get involved with our Alliance. Learn more about doing business with Russia. Experience the rich cultural heritage of dance, literature, art, and metalworking in Tula. Join with us as we explore how our young people can be better-educated for a fast-changing world. Join one of our cultural tours to this beautiful Russian region, home to Tolstoy and Chekhov. Or just get together with like-minded people who have an interest in strengthening our community by reaching beyond it.
