Our annual ATA Essay Contest kicked off this month with one of our most important topics to date: Climate Change.
Inspiration for the topic comes from sixteen-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg of Sweden. The young activist gained international attention for what she describes as a “climate crisis,” which includes flash floods, coastal flooding, increased erosion, reduced snow cover, and species losses around the world. These consequences are expected to have severe impacts on Russia and North America.
We at the ATA, have a Health and Environment Committee that is busy working with The Center for Environmental Policy and Culture in Tula, Russia to identify collaborative projects regarding sustainable development and green design. Tula-based professionals have volunteered to participate in past ATA-sponsored online sustainability courses held by the UAlbany School of Public Health.
If you’re passionate about this topic, please consider participating in the contest by reading more at www.albanytula.org/essay. There you will find the topic question, submission rules, and deadline date. Feel free to contact our Education Committee with questions: essay@albanytula.org.
