Barbara Webster, chair of the Albany-Tula Alliance’s Education and Culture Committee, and Jerry Shaye, chair of the ATA were guests of the Tolstoy Pedagogical University at the celebration of their 75th anniversary in Tula over the past three days.
Highlights of the events included recognition of TSPU by national, regional and municipal authorities. Numerous faculty members were awarded certificates and plaques in recognition of their long service.
In representation of the ATA, Jerry Shaye presented Rector Vladimir Panin, who has visited Albany on two occasions, with a lovely silver tray inscribed with congratulatory words celebrating this milestone.
The Office of International Relations, headed by Zhanna Fomicheva, Vladimir Andreev and Irina Bolushevskaya, worked tirelessly and effectively to accommodate not only our visit, but those of distinguished visitors from Colombia, Germany, Bulgaria, China and Belarus.
We are proud to partner with TSPU and cherish our relationship with this excellent university and its staff and faculty.
