Two bright and motivated Capital Region high school students won the Albany-Tula Alliance’s Essay Contest this year by writing about Leo Tolstoy’s influence on world leaders. Ichabod Crane High School senior Rose Schneider and Guilderland High School Senior Haewon Hwang will travel to Tula in September to visit Tolstoy’s country estate, to attend the opening session of an annual Tolstoy conference at Lev Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University and to visit with students in local schools.
