Two senior executives from Tula, Russia arrived in the Capital Region on Sunday, June 24 to participate in a two-week business internship provided by the Albany-Tula Alliance.
Olesya Gulevskaya, finance director for a large marketing company in Tula called Ingate and Sergey Torin, head of public and private partnerships in the Tula government, were chosen by the Business Committee to participate in classes, lectures, and meetings in an effort to bolster citizen-to-citizen diplomatic relations between cultures.
The candidates spent their first three days at the Holiday Inn on Wolf Road attending the Basic Economic Development Course learning about the strategies and policies for international trade of products and services.
“This was a very useful and powerful experience for me,” said Torin. “I am incredibly grateful to the Alliance for this opportunity.”
“The knowledge I gained during this course helped to strengthen my understanding of business practices in the U.S.,” said Gulevskaya.
ATA Chair, David Smith agrees. He emphasized that the mission of the ATA is to strengthen bonds between people and institutions in the Tula and Capital Region and opportunities like this help.
NYSEDC Executive Director, Ryan Silva handed out certificates upon completion of the course. He added that he was impressed by the ease with which both visitors engaged with their fellow students.
Further opportunities continue this week with a visit to Center for Economic Growth (CEG) in Albany, Saratoga Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) in Saratoga Springs and Empire State Development (ESD) in Troy.
