Russian Life filmmaker Paul Richardson coming to Capital Region
April 20, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeRussian Life magazine publisher and editor Paul Richardson will visit the Capital Region on April 20 to present a special showing of his new documentary film and book, both titled Resilience. The book and film were created in collaboration with Russian journalists Mikhael Mordasov and Nadya Grebennikova, after the trio traveled 20,000 kilometers across Russia last summer.
In 1917, Russia was wracked by revolution, famine, war, and unrest. And yet, all that year children were born. Resilience is a film about some of those children, 100 years later, and their remarkable life stories. The film is in Russian with English subtitles.
“Beautiful and deeply touching. Hard lives and yet they survived and some remain optimistic and positive.”
Richardson will introduce the film, offer short readings from the book, and a Q&A and book signing. Other books by Richardson (including The Spine of Russia) will also be available after the film.
Parking is available across from the Center at 9 Tracy Street. Cars can also park on the streets near the building. Coffee and tea will be provided during the event.
The first 20 attendees to arrive at the event will receive a free 2018 Russian Life Wall Calendar, featuring the stunning photography of Moscow by award-winning photographer Igor Sobolev.
This is a volunteer fundraiser for the ATA. A suggested donation at the door is appreciated, and a portion of the proceeds from all books sold will be donated to the ATA.
