Albany-Tula: A Capital Region Alliance
The Tula Children’s Art Collection

In the fall of 1991, the City of Albany and the City of Tula, Russia affiliated
to develop and maintain an economic, educational and cultural partnership.
The first official delegation from Albany visited the ancient city of Tula in March
of 1992 and witnessed the arrival of humanitarian aid donated to Tula families in
need from families in Albany.
A collection of children's paintings was presented to the delegation to share with
the people of Albany. The artworks were done by children, 5 to 13 years of age,
who attend the Children's Polenov Art School in Tula. The paintings have been shown
at Capital Region museums and schools, and art by Albany children has been exhibited
in Tula.
Proceeds from the sale of the artwork and cards will support educational and cultural
exchanges, family to family projects and other activities that promote friendship
and understanding between our communities.

helping the children of Tula, and it is supported by the Doctors of the Capital
District Physicians Health Plan.
Additionally, the originals of many of these paintings will be for sale at the art
show which is part of the gala 1999: A Space Odyssey being
held at the Albany International Airport on April 10. Click
